Lord Murugan Temple In Kongu region


1.Palani Arulmigu Dhandayuthapani Temple (Palani Murugan Temple)


The temple was constructed in the period of Chera Kings rule of South Kongu Nadu. In the epigraphs found in the Karpagraham dated 13th century it is known that Pandiyan Kings, Chola Kings also contibuted much for the festivals of this temple and worshiped Lord Muruga
At its foot is the Temple of Thiru-avinan-kudi, one of the Arupadaiveedu(he six Fort-Houses of Muruga).


2.Marudhamalai Murugan temple


Marudamalai is a popular temple of the Hindu god Murugan, situated top a hill of the same name in Coimbatore Tamil Nadu, India
Like most Murugan temples, Marudhamalai Murugan temple is situated upon a hill that is a part of the Western Ghats and is about 15 km west .
This is an ancient temple. References to this temple are found in inscriptions in the Thirumuruganpoondi temple. Thirumuruganpoondi temple is a "Tevarapaadalpetrastalam" and is at least 1200 years old. So we can surmise that the Marudhamalai temple is older than 1200 years.
There is a shrine called the "Paambaatti Sitthar Kugai" (Paambaatti Sitthar cave) that is in proximity to the Murugan temple. Legend has it that a Sitthar referred to as the Paambaatti Sitthar lived here in Marudhamalai. Paambaatti Sitthar is one of the most notable 18 Sitthars





3. Chennimalai Subramanya Swami Temple

The most famous temple of Lord Muruga in Erode District is Chennimala
This world famous temple of Lord Muruga is where Lord Arunagirinathar was blessed with "Padikasu", wealth of coins. This is where an unusual phenomenon, rather a miracle took place in the year 1984 on 12 February. A bullock cart with two bulls climbed the 1320 steps on their own on this eventful day. Saravana Munivar wrote the most popular Chennimalai Sthalapuranam before 700 years. Milk and curds are used as special offerings to Lord Muruga in Chennimalai and it is the general belief that curds do not become sour here.




4. Sivan Malai Sivanmalai Murugan Temple

A beautiful Temple dedicated to Lord Muruga near Kangaeyam. This lord is also known as Karthikeya, Skanda among other myraid names. He is the lord of war and victory. In mythology he is the son of Lord Shiva and Parvathi, but was born unconceived. The temple has the classic south indian (and Tamil) architecture.
ivanmalai is located in the Tiruppur District, Tamilnadu. It is 5 kms away from Kangeyam town towards Tiruppur. This Sivanmalai is located in 25 Kms away from Tiruppur and 76 Kms away from Coimbatore. The other names of Sivanmalai are Sivachalam, Sivathri, Shakthi Sivamalai. This town Kangeyam is famous for business coconut products like oil, nutshell charcoal products etc. The main deity of the Sivanmalai is Lord Subramanya Swamy it is the another name of Lord Murugan. The favorite deity of the Tamil people is undoubtedly Murugan, the son of Siva and Parvathi. This temple was build by Sivavakkiyar a famous Sidhhar. It is believed that this temple may be constructed in 12th century.



5.Thindal Murugan Temple

Thindalmalai Murugan Temple (திண்டல்மலை முருகன் கோவில்) is one of the famous Hindu temples dedidated to Lord Muruga, located on Thindalmalai hillock, in the city of Erode, off the Perundurai Road, the prestigious arterial Road off the City
he area surrounding this hill is called as Thindal. The part in the west side of this hillock is called Mael Thindal or Thindal medu and the eastern part is called Keel Thindal.

6.  Arulmigu Balamurugan Temple, Pachaimalai,Gobichettipalayam

The temple is located in Gobichettipalayam, a quiet town in the Erode district.  Gobi, as it is
 shortly called, has two hill temples - Pachaimalai and Pavalamalai. This is considered to be
 a great reason to justify the town's ethics. Pachaimalai is also colloquially pronounced as
 'Pachamalai'
 Arulmigu Balamurugan, the child god, son of Shiva Parvathi, the god of army, the teacher of all,
 finds his place in this scenic hill temple. The Lord appears in a very beautiful form and it is very
 difficult to take one's eye off.




7.Arulmigu Murugan Temple, Pavalamalai, Gobichettipalayam, Erode

The second hill temple for Lord Muruga in Gobi.

8.Uthanda Velayudhasamy Thirukoil Uthiyur/Uthimalai , Kangeyam,Tirupur

The temple is located on a small hillock. This place is called Pon Uthiyur which is considered as a Sanjeevani Hill of the south.
