  3. Hi ,

History as it that the zamins of Vannavarayar and vallavarayar of Agamudyar ancestry the Agamudyars had merged with the native vellalas and now deem them as vellala's however proofs can be seen from the folowing that makes it clear that these are agamudyar zamins, as we all know that irumbuthalai is subdivision of the Agamudyars,

This inscription is damaged in some places.
It records that the mahasabhai of Sri[.....] mangalam alias Taniyanai [Vira]pandyach chaturvvedimangalam, a Brahmadeyam, in Ari-nadu, sold some land comprising Sakaraneri in the southern quarter of their village, as karanmachchenmam to a certain Suriyadevan Tampikku Nallaperumal alias Pillai Sundarapandya Vanakovaraiyar, an [Agappavirar / Agamudyar] mudali of the king, of Arukkai Kunrattur in Anma-nadu, as vadak-kadamai to the temple of the god Vikramapandisvaramudaiya-nayanar of Solapuram in Anma-nadu. It is stated that the mahasabhai sold the village of Sakaraneri for 500 panam and granted all the taxes, etc., that it yielded to the temple of the god mentioned above and had ordered the transfer of the land to the grants of lands of the temple after removing it from the village of the sabhai. A number of signatories are listed at the end.
The engraver on stones was Sambandan Appan alias Viravinoda Achariyan the sirpachariyan of the same nadu.

The above chola inscription makes it clear that Vankovarayar or vannavarayar which mean the bana lineage are of the Agamudayar origins that is the reason some of the kootams of the kongu vellala's are prefixed with Mudali / Mudali Kaminden...

  7. In 1960s my family used to talk about "Sakkarai Mandradiar" and his cattles. Since, our family had hundreds of cattles till recent years, our affinity towards cattles still exists. If someone could write more about the great Mandradiar family, I will be thankful
